As the founder of About Face Design Team, Kari’s creative designs in hairstyling and her detailed, flawless touch with makeup has helped wedding and portrait photographers win awards at the national level. Her work has graced the covers of many publications and is frequently featured in The Perfect Wedding Guide, Central Florida Bride, and Orlando Leisure magazines. She has been featured in published articles and has spoken for professional photographers nationally. Kari and business partner Gina Schmidt continue to train and teach the stylists of About Face Design Team the latest techniques and hottest styles for hair and makeup for production, print, film/HDTV, and weddings.

Gina Schmidt, Co-Owner

International training and over twenty years experience makes Gina the “go-to” makeup artist for print, film, HDTV and weddings. Across the globe she has a faithful clientele, including many celebrities who make her their “first choice” makeup artist. Gina joined Kari in 2004 as co-owner of About Face Design Team. Merging Gina’s stellar talent and high-profile resume with a well-established leader in the bridal market was a match made in heaven! Kari and Gina are leaders in the industry; their service is always in demand because of their absolute devotion to their business, their personalized attention to detail for their clients, and their high standard of excellence for their staff.

Ashlynn Arthur, Lead Makeup Artist, Golf Channel

Ashlynn has worked in every aspect of AFDT’s business including weddings, tv, and print work but her favorite types of jobs are production. She thrives on high pressure jobs that require lots of “creative solutions” and the fun destinations certainly don’t hurt. Ashlynn is a Licensed Esthetician but makeup is her true passion. “In all seriousness, I look forward to waking up and putting my makeup on each day. I thoroughly enjoy it!”

Kalie Drake, Bridal Department Coordinator

Kalie loves working with brides. She says, “No matter how many weddings I do, I get even more excited every time!” She loves to study a client’s face and quickly find the best, most flattering look for their unique personality and style. Kalie is passionate about creating fantastic, glamorous hairstyles and can replicate just about any “red carpet” look. She has worked with world-renowned Martin Parsons assisting at major workshops, and is constantly updating her skills and mastering current styles through continuing education workshops. A valuable member of the About Face Design Team, Kalie is always learning more techniques for makeup for film, print and HDTV.

Jane ZImmer, Office Manager & Scheduling Coordinator

Master at coordinating hair & makeup services behind the scenes, Jane is incredible at juggling all the details of any event or appointment to make sure everything runs smoothly. When Jane is not handling “Scheduling Central,” she enjoys Jazzercise as well as cooking and entertaining. She is affectionately known as About Face Design Team’s “Jangel.”

Connie Edge, Director of Operations & Marketing

With a history as an Account Executive for Chanel, Connie is no stranger to the inner workings of the beauty industry. An entrepreneurial business owner herself, Connie also has first-hand knowledge of the challenges that a rapidly-growing, successful small business faces. Whether spearheading marketing efforts, coordinating important clients and jobs, crossing the t’s and dotting the i’s on human resource affairs, or harnessing the creative power of the stylists within AFDT, Connie thrives on perfecting a successful business.

Bethany Andries, Marketing & Sales Assistant

A bachelors degree in business management allows Bethany to efficiently organize, create, and assist with all of the hundreds of details that keep AFDT at the top of their industry.  Always passionate about hair and makeup (styling her friends and sisters whenever she got the chance), Bethany loves being able to work from the business side of beauty!
